Radical Transparency

Posted by Jennifer Mattern on April 23rd, 2007 in Online PR, PR Tools

I was finally paging through my April issue of Wired magazine today. There’s a really interesting article on radical transparency among tech-oriented companies (the practice of being totally, or at least very, transparent about what you’re up to with the public… such as product development information and such through business blogging.) It’s a good read, so I just thought I’d mention it for anyone interested in online PR that may not have stumbled across it. You can read more about the case studies here.

I’m a big suppporter of transparency in business, just in case that hasn’t been made obvious enough on this blog. I’m very anti-spin in the cover-up the bad / highlight the good kind of way. I love the idea of radical transparency through business blogging. Actually, I’ve been working on launching a new blog specifically dedicated to business blogging to talk about issues like this, but this article was a reminder that I should be talking more about it here.

So how do you feel (either as a PR pro or a business owner) about transparency through corporate blogging, or even in general?
